Chapter 94 - Thor Is Afraid He'll End Up Hanging From a Street Lamp

Nick Fury absolutely did not believe that things would end like this. This was Thor, the God of Thunder. Never mind the real world for a moment, and forget about all the strange alternate timelines—within the main storyline, the so-called orthodox timeline, Thor was the absolute protagonist.

Even the name of the movie, as revealed by Rowan, was Thor. So how could Thor possibly die?

He didn't buy it.

It was unscientific. No Hollywood studio would be foolish enough to produce a movie where the main character dies in the first installment.

"Yeah, this isn't over yet," Nick muttered.

Right then, Tony Stark had the same realization.

The protagonist, the so-called child of destiny—did these people even understand what that meant?

Sure enough, the video wasn't finished. The camera kept rolling. Mjolnir, which had been resting in a facility in New Mexico, suddenly burst from the lab, unleashing unimaginable thunder as it shot straight toward Thor's location.

Moments later, in the midst of a raging thunderstorm, Thor caught Mjolnir. In an instant, divine power surged back into his body. Wounds that would have been fatal to an ordinary human were instantly rendered meaningless.

When he fought for Asgard in the past, he had suffered countless life-threatening injuries. This was nothing in comparison.

His armor reformed on his body, divine power burst forth, and a powerful tornado swept through the sky, hurling the Destroyer high into the air.

An astonishing battle erupted between the two.

Everyone watching was stunned by the flurry of action.

Boom!

Moments later, in a thunderous clash, Thor defeated the Destroyer with overwhelming divine power.

At last, the video came to an end.

Everyone breathed a collective sigh of relief. Thor had regained his power in the end.

"So that's how I got my power back!" Thor exclaimed.

"Do you have to die every time?" Hawkeye Barton asked dryly.

"Obviously not," Nick Fury said, shaking his head. "I think I understand what your father was trying to test. He wasn't trying to see if you could survive death.

He wanted to see if you could understand that a king doesn't fight just for the sake of wielding power.

If you did that, you'd become a warmongering tyrant.

Only through protection—by using your strength to guard others—can you unlock the true purpose of your power.

In the video, you chose to sacrifice yourself to protect everyone. That act met the conditions your father set. That's why Mjolnir became unsealed. That's my personal interpretation."

More importantly, this also aligned with Hollywood's political correctness: power must be used for protection, not abuse.

Nick Fury knew how these people thought—he could see it coming a mile away. It reflected Hollywood's fundamental distrust of rulers, a core theme in Western narratives. Any abuse of power would inevitably stir outrage.

Thor finally understood the real issue. It had nothing to do with death.

He had always been willing to die for Asgard. He had no regrets, even if he died on the battlefield.

But that wasn't the lesson his father wanted him to learn. Odin didn't need him to throw himself at death—he needed Thor to understand how to use power wisely. That was the true key to what kind of king he would become.

A benevolent king—or a tyrant.

In the video, the original history, Thor had learned that lesson through battle. And now, watching it unfold, he understood once again.

"I get it now. This was the will of the king," Thor said with a serious expression. "Even though I don't care whether the throne belongs to me or Loki, that doesn't matter. But Loki… he still doesn't understand that a king must be willing to risk everything to protect his people.

If Asgard falls into his hands, he won't become a benevolent monarch. He'll become a tyrant. That's why I must reclaim the throne!"

Thor fully grasped why his father had not chosen Loki as his successor. The fact that Loki was the child of the Frost Giant Laufey was just one reason.

The real reason was that Loki had no understanding of what it truly meant to be king.

To be honest, both brothers were like hothouse flowers—sheltered, untested.

One was brash and relied purely on brute strength, thinking everything could be solved with power. The other schemed endlessly, always playing games in the shadows.

Odin, watching from afar: Family, please. Look at these two! What am I supposed to do with them?

"You're thinking in the right direction," Nick Fury nodded in approval. This was the outcome he'd hoped for.

If the throne fell to Loki, it would be a disaster for humanity.

They would have to be constantly vigilant, always on edge, waiting for Loki to find some excuse to invade. For example: Two of our Asgardian soldiers have gone missing on Earth—please hand them over.

After much consideration, Nick believed it was in Earth's best interest that Thor, with justice in his heart, take the throne. Even if it meant using Thor for their benefit, it was worth it.

"I won't waver again," Thor said, his tone resolute. "I'll use my power to protect the people of Asgard."

He felt that his mindset had completely transformed. He would never again abuse his power.

Blindly fighting, mindlessly crushing enemies with brute force—that was no longer the kind of ruler he aspired to be.

He would use his strength to bring peace to Asgard, not shatter it.

[Brother Hammer didn't just admire his father Odin—he wanted to imitate him. He wanted to conquer the Nine Realms through sheer force, just as Odin had.

But what he didn't realize was that Odin succeeded because of overwhelming strength.

Back in the day, Odin was the most powerful godfather-tier being in the known universe.

There were fewer than a dozen entities on his level. Meanwhile, Thor could barely beat a green rage-monster.

He was just the god of hammers.

And he thought he could make the Nine Realms kneel?

He'd be lucky not to end up hanging from a street lamp.]
