Immediately, the wolves start moving, as if they've already forgotten what they have been furious about seconds ago.
The tension that filled the air just moments ago dissolves into scattered footsteps and murmurs.
Charlotte disappears in the thin air.
Tanner reaches into his pocket, pulling out his phone. His fingers close around the number Kyle had given him earlier. Without hesitation, he dials it.
"Where are you?" he demands as soon as Kyle picks up.
There's a pause on the other end, then Kyle's voice, calm but laced with a hint of amusement. "What? You've already made up your mind you want to confess?"
Tanner's patience is thin, fraying at the edges. "Where are you? Just answer my question! Everyone knows about Jess now. They're looking for him. This isn't some game, Kyle. Where is he?"
Kyle's voice shifts, sharper and shocked. "What?!"
"Yes." Tanner doesn't soften his tone.
