Chapter 50 - Unconventional Martial Arts 1

Eric's Heaven rank external techniques complemented his ability, simply because of its rank and him being a Heavenly Sage. However, for others, below the Heaven rank external techniques, Earth rank and it is still divided into minor grades, they need external techniques that are applicable to their abilities.

Similar to Eric's pyromancy and Celestial Grand Strikes, albeit, for others, their abilities were unconventional to the Murim World.

Most of the martial arts in the Murim World had their external techniques revolved around them. However, in this world, the abilities determined their future, so Eric had to adjust to them, tailoring internal and external techniques based on their ability, not the other way around.

Hence, it was unconventional, and it was why he called it "Unconventional Martial Arts."

Zoe knocked on the door and Eric allowed her to open it by herself and entered. Eric smiled at her, pointed at the table, while not leaving on his bed, sitting on the lotus position, seemingly enjoying the afternoon sunset.

Zoe was in a daze, staring at him, and then turned around in a flustered manner, putting the notebooks on Eric's table with many ballpens.

After they read the breathing technique Eric wrote for them, they were guilt-stricken but, at the same time, became determined to be stronger to prevent disappointing the Emperor. They could discern the effort Eric put on the notebook on their hand and they received an intense reaction to reciprocate his simple gesture.

After Zoe left with a burning cheeks on her face, Eric glanced at the notebooks and went into a daze. His mind worked profusely, seemingly, not only searching on the memories of Ixcahua, but on Eric, comprehending the laws of this world.

Thankfully, Eric was smart, only that, he was lazy. He managed to enter a prestigious state university, where tuition was free, but his laziness would drop him from the college.

Nevertheless, Eric was able to make use of Eric's memories.

It took him an hour or two and he did not even blink, as though his eyes had developed an immense resistance against dust and wind. In the end, when his eyes regained clarity, the afternoon sunset was replaced by the gentle stream of the moonlight.

He stood up and left on his bed. He did not feel numb and felt even more revitalized as he sat in front of the table and glanced at the notebook.

He smiled. "They seemed to have expected I would write on the front page."

After all, most of the notebooks were empty white on the front page, and some of their surfaces were thick, appearing to have been painted with white color.

He shook his head and wrote Jasper first as usual since he was the first person he met.

Jasper's martial arts he just finished building while he was in a daze earlier was called Ironflow Arnis. Simply put, his Morph Metal abilities were integrated into his weapon techniques.

He wrote, "It is a fluid yet devastating arnis style that incorporates Morph Metal ability, allowing you to shift between offense and defense seamlessly. Now, this is important, because most of your offenses are simply defensive attacks. In addition, you can still retain your traditional weapon techniques, but I suggest you follow and master the core techniques in this notebook."

Eric believed Jasper should have no problem abandoning the traditional martial arts and adapting to the unconventional martial arts he tailored for them since he stated he wanted him to alter his technique and improve it.

Most of the core techniques Eric wrote was something Jasper was not able to fully utilize currently. After all, martial arts evolved with the martial practitioner, and it was a better way to motivate them to evolve higher stages for them to feel rewarding to execute their martial arts efficiently.

For instance, the first core technique, Forged Reverb Strikes.

He wrote, "It is a rapid chain of blows where you harden and extend your arnis sticks mid-strike, increasing reach and impact."

On the current stage, the best Jasper could execute was hardening the arnis, increasing the impact of his rapid chain of blows. However, Eric believed once Jasper reached the second mortal stage, he would then be able to extend his arnis sticks.

He could execute the second core technique, Liquid Metal Weave, as it softens the metal structure once received a blunt attack, absorbing the kinetic force before countering. However, it would still depend on the practitioner, since they would not be able to absorb an attack of a second mortal stage, like the Shockwave Slam of the Bulwark Zombie, if they were still a third mortal stage.

If their energy was lacking, their metal would disintegrate into pieces and might travel the remaining kinetic force to the arm of Jasper, inevitably injuring him.

On the third technique, however, Jasper might not be able to execute it unless he attained the second mortal stage. Iron Torrent Barrage was a technique that threw the arnis forward, only to morph them into whips mid-air, causing him to still grasp and control the arnis.

The fourth and fifth technique was no different, the former temporarily fusing his sticks into a shield, allowing for reinforced blocking and counterattacks, and the latter turning arnis sticks into sharp-edged blades, transitioning from blunt to cutting techniques in real time.

Even so, the remaining techniques could be executed if Jasper reached the second mortal stage.

He wrote, "All of the core techniques can be executed once you reach the second mortal stage, so work hard. I don't expect you to all evolve to the first mortal stage immediately. Don't worry, the martial arts will evolve alongside you."

In fact, Eric was worried if they would really be able to attain the first mortal stage. After all, to reach the first mortal stage might require A grade attribute points.

He mumbled, "Hopefully, the breathing technique and the constant extreme exercise or fighting against zombies would elevate their attribute points."

Coincidentally, after Eric's battle against the Corpse Titan, he was informed by the system his attribute points had reached the max and he was now able to evolve to the second mortal stage…
