Chapter: 7, Evaluation
After finishing their meal, everyone gathered at the training grounds.
Since Emperor Ray Kaiser has told them to be there. He wanted to evaluate their attributes to prepare a training guide for everyone individually.
A mage brought up a crystal orb in front of everyone. Not everyone recognized him but Dain did. The old magician was the Grand Mage of the Kaiser Imperial family. He was very strong as what you would expect from a Level 150 individual.
In this world, not everyone has the special trait of gaining EXP through killing monsters and living beings. Only the otherworlders who had received the blessing of the Gods can become strong through killing.
People of this world can't do that. So, they have developed many secret and mystical techniques through which they can awaken the natural energy of this world called 'Mana'.
People who have been able to utilize mana have also developed many external spells that were different from inherent spells that people are given from birth.
Through that, many magical technologies have been invented, and the crystal orb in front of them was one of them. That is an 'Attribute Evaluation Orb' or 'AEO' for short.
This thing can show you how many attributes a person has, what their effects are and which grade they are. They also evaluated their attributes in the previous life, because of that, Dain could still fight alongside them in his previous life.
Soon Emperor Ray announced, "Esteemed Heroes. You already know we have summoned you into our world for a reason. The reason is for you to protect our world from the demon invasion from the Underworld."
The summoned students had smiles on their faces. After all, this type of story is something everyone has read at least once, so they had the basic knowledge about their current situation. Everyone was ready and excited for their coming up journey.
Everyone was pretty confident in themselves. Their skills were pretty strong according to the people of this world. If trained well, they might even become strong powerhouses like the grand age and other strong individuals.
"Please come one by one and touch the orb." The old mage in white robe said.
The first one to go was Hestia. She placed her hand on the orb and with a golden glow, three particles like small bugs appeared, flowing inside the orb. One was Purple and the other two were Golden. The Grand Mage had a look of disbelief as he announced with joy
"Hero Hestia, Two S-tiers and one A-tier attribute. The attributes are: [Pure Heart], A-tier, the person has a heart as pure as white jade.
[Absolute Will], S-tier: Her will is absolute and [Diligence], S-tier: She is diligent to the core."
His words rang out, making everyone shocked. The officials, Temple priests and even the Saintess, who were nearby were shocked. A hero having two S-tier attributes is extremely lucky. The only other person who has two S-tier attributes other than Hestia was Saintess Lily.
The Saintess had a smile on her lips as she examined Hestia for a moment. Between their joy and excitement, the grand mage noticed a big black particle standing still in the middle of the orb. His mouthed opened as he stumbled to say, but a shout came out
"A FLAW!?"
Everyone looked over at him, some puzzled but the people who knew the meaning of his words stood up from their seats. They announced as Dain also remembered about the Flaw.
It is pretty well known that no being and existence is perfect, they all have their own imperfection. But one thing that people should know is that the very flaw is what helps them be perfect. Nobody is perfect, but if you already have a Flaw, you can improve in other areas except the flaw.
Everyone has a flaw in this world, it's just that they need to realize that. People of this world usually try to discover their flaws after they reach level 100. To break through past level 100, one needs a flaw or they won't be able to ascend to a higher level.
It was also the reason why Dain couldn't get much stronger after he reached level 100. Even reaching level 100 was thanks to the secret technique he had created in the previous life. Why couldn't he get any stronger? Because his class was of a low tier but it held no flaws. A perfect class sounds like a blessing but was a curse in disguise.
"What does the Flaw say?" Emperor Ray asked the grand mage as the Saintess also looked at him. Having a flaw before reaching level 100 might sound like a restriction but was actually a blessing in disguise.
Since you already know your flaws, you will start to become perfect early on. Making her twice as strong as a person, who reached level 100 without a flaw? But it also added more difficulty to the development, which would be manageable if they knew what rank the flaw is and what it is.
The grand mage stumbled with his words. He hesitated as his face darkened, eventually he announced "Hero Hestia. Flaw: [Longing]: "You long for someone deeply. Your heart is unsettled not seeing that person. You long for his presence and the future you dream of with him by your side", SS-rank."
His words hung in the air, making everyone silent. Emperor Kai rushed toward the orb and looked at the description with his own two eyes. The Saintess also came forward, looking at the description, disbelief clear in their eyes.
It was true. The description of her flaw clearly suggested that this teenage girl deeply longs for someone in her heart. A flaw at the SS-rank, matching her class of Divine or the so-called SS-rank. A rank with potential to reach godhood, could actually be a curse that stems from a teenage girl's heart?
A despairing thought appeared in their mind, almost a question,
"Just who is that person, for whom she longs for to get a flaw of this rank?!"
