Chapter 23 - **Chapter 23: The Wish (Please vote!)**

Originally, the fire at Frypan Mountain was supposed to be extinguished by Kame-Sennin.

But Uchiha Hikari popped three or four Bingryougan pills and unleashed over thirty *Suiton: Suijinheki*, creating a massive torrent that doused the flames and saved Gyuumaou's castle. In return, she received a Dragon Ball from Gyuumaou, along with several chests of jewels as a thank-you.

—In the original storyline, those jewels were blasted to bits by Kame-Sennin's Kamehameha.

Hikari accepted them without a hint of guilt.

The only tricky part was the seventh Dragon Ball.

The one in Pilaf's hands.

Hikari wasn't sure where Pilaf stashed it, so she played along, pretending to be defeated alongside Goku and the newly joined Yamcha, letting themselves get captured. Then, she busted out *Susanoo*, smashed through the prison walls, and tracked down Pilaf's trio as they were trying to summon Shenron. She subdued them and tossed them aside.

"Finally, we've got all seven!"

On the lawn in the center of Pilaf's castle, the seven Dragon Balls were gathered together, their glowing stars shimmering in sync, radiating a faint but surging magical energy.

"Go for it, Hikari! Make your wish!" Bulma said, shooting her an encouraging look.

Goku, Oolong, and the others stood by, arms crossed, ready to watch the show.

Hikari nodded her thanks, stepped up to the Dragon Balls, and took a deep breath.

"Come forth, Shenron!"

As her words rang out, a gust of wind whipped up.

The seven Dragon Balls let out a low, resonant hum, their already bright glow flaring even more brilliantly. High above, thick, roiling clouds churned, plunging the world into darkness in an instant. Before Hikari and the others, a shimmering, emerald-green figure began to take shape, its long, serpentine body coiling in the air, exuding an aura of majestic dominance.

"You who have gathered the seven Dragon Balls, state your wish," Shenron's deep voice echoed through the sky. "Any wish can be granted… but only one."

(*You sure about that 'any wish' part?*) Hikari thought, smirking inwardly. Testing the waters, she said, "I want to become a Super Saiyan."

The air went dead silent.

Shenron: "I'm sorry, that's not possible…"

"Huh? Didn't you just say *any* wish could be granted? How's that not possible?" Bulma piped up, looking confused. "Also, what's a Super Saiyan?"

Hikari wasn't surprised by Shenron's response.

She didn't bother asking about a "Cell physique" or a "Frieza physique" either. Instead, she got serious and asked something critical: "Lord Shenron, before I make my wish, I'd like to know—can you enhance someone's training potential?"

"Yes," Shenron replied, nodding. "But only within certain limits."

"Limits?"

"Correct. Those are determined by the rules set by my creator."

So… it's tied to Dende's power, then?

If that was the case, wishing for Saiyan-level potential was out of the question. Dende's strength was roughly on par with an average Saiyan, and after splitting off Piccolo Daimao, he'd gotten even weaker. Any potential boost he could grant would be limited at best.

Maybe someday, if she got the chance, she could check out Namek…

Hikari mulled it over briefly before pointing to her eyes and stating her wish clearly: "I wish for my eyes, while retaining their current *Yachihoko* dojutsu, to evolve into the Rinnegan."

There were multiple ways to counter the Mangekyou Sharingan's vision loss, but evolving it into the Rinnegan was the most straightforward. The Rinnegan had no risk of blindness and boasted even stronger dojutsu abilities, enough to carry her comfortably through the late stages of the *Naruto* world.

But…

Shenron: "I'm sorry, that's not possible…"

"?" Hikari blinked. "Why not *this* one?"

"I… cannot comprehend what you mean by 'Rinnegan,'" Shenron said in his low, rumbling voice. "Moreover, your wish seems to involve rules of a higher order, which I am unable to fulfill."

"…"

Hikari frowned slightly.

The first part was easy enough to understand. To the Dragon Ball world, the "Rinnegan" was an unknown concept, something they'd never encountered. But the second part…

Was Shenron saying the Rinnegan came from another world and didn't fit within Dragon Ball's universal rules? Or that its power level exceeded what Dende, Shenron's creator, could handle? Or maybe evolving to the Rinnegan would mean losing *Yachihoko*?

If it was the first issue…

Could she drag Nagato over, have him show off his Rinnegan in front of Shenron, and then ask Shenron to replicate it for her? Would *that* work?

Hikari fell into thought, weighing whether to risk losing *Yachihoko* and push for the Rinnegan or just pick a different wish.

Meanwhile, Bulma and the others were causing a ruckus.

They had no clue what Hikari's wishes meant, but after several "not possible" responses, they were starting to doubt Shenron's power. Some even wondered if the Dragon Ball legend was a sham.

Shenron overheard their chatter and looked a bit miffed. "Human, don't you have a more… normal wish? Like ruling the world or something?"

"…"

So, in your eyes, ruling the world is easier than getting a Rinnegan, huh?

Hikari's lips twitched in a wry smile before she spoke again. "Fine… I wish to gain the ability to rapidly recover to peak condition in an extremely short time, no matter what kind of physical damage I take, with no side effects—especially for any damage to my vision."

She locked eyes with Shenron, waiting.

If this wish worked, she'd essentially have a low-budget "Majin Buu physique." It'd let her use her Mangekyou dojutsu long-term without vision loss, like how transplanting Hashirama's cells worked for Uchiha Obito. Plus, rapid self-healing was a practical ability in itself, basically a substitute for medical ninjutsu.

This time, Shenron seemed to relax.

"That is simple."

With those words, a brilliant light shot from Shenron's mouth, enveloping Hikari.

A warm, soothing current seemed to well up from within, flowing through her limbs and spreading through her body. Her eye sockets tingled with a pleasant, numbing sensation, like soaking in a hot spring. It felt… nice.

"Your wish has been granted," Shenron said. "Farewell."

With that, Shenron's body dissolved back into the seven Dragon Balls, which shot off in seven different directions.

Goku, Yamcha, and the others scrambled after them, trying to catch the scattering orbs.

Hikari, meanwhile, whipped out a kunai from her ninja pouch and sliced her arm without hesitation.
