Nina stirred awake to the blaring sound of her alarm. Her eyes barely opened before she blindly reached out and smacked her phone until the noise stopped.
She sat up slowly, hair a mess, vision blurry, and limbs still half-asleep.
When her vision cleared, she glanced at her phone screen—and froze.
10:00 AM.
[Alarm #10 – "WAKE UP OR ELSE.]
She groaned and buried her face in her hands.
"Great. Ten alarms."
Her phone buzzed with a message notification. It was from her mother.
[Knew you wouldn't wake up in time. Don't worry about me, I've gone out with the girls. Try not to sleep the entire morning away. Love you.]
Her Patron's voice hummed lightly in her mind, amused.
[Your mother knows you well. Impressive how she anticipated this.]
"Shut up. Let me survive one morning without judgment."
Nina muttered, dragging herself out of bed.
[I didn't say anything about judgment. I'm just stating facts.]
"Same thing."
