Nina's mother walked briskly ahead, dragging her along with a firm grip on her wrist.
"Now remember, no weird faces, no sudden exits, and please don't say anything strange. Just smile and be polite."
She said without looking back.
Nina barely held back a groan.
'She always says this. Like I'm going to jump on the table and declare war on humanity or something.'
She complained inwardly.
[You do tend to look miserable at these things. But I'm more concerned with the fact that you never stop her. You could just pull away.]
Her Patron said, voice dry.
'And what? Yank her arm out of its socket? She's a normal person. I'd rather not accidentally crush her bones trying to prove a point.'
Nina muttered mentally.
[Then stop complaining. You have the strength to leave, but instead you endure and sulk. You can't have it both ways, Nina.]
Her Patron replied flatly.
