Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

Chapter 7

POV: Li Yun

*Pak* ×5 *Bang* ×4

The sound of my fist impacting a wooden dummy echoed as I continuously struck it with controlled but slightly clumsy punches.

Sweat poured from my naked upper body, and the Qi around me was passively cultivated into my body, making it seem as if white smoke radiated from me.

While I continued to practice, my mind started to wander toward what had happened in the last couple of days.

After Li Mei and I escaped to my home, I introduced her to my family, which caused different reactions.

My siblings were ecstatic about meeting someone new. Since most parents, due to our faith in God, don't like their kids interacting with us, they were just happy to finally meet someone different.

My parents though…

Just thinking about their reaction made me blush, and my punches grew faster and heavier as I recalled that embarrassing moment.

My mom was so happy that I had met a girl, she cried tears of joy as she caressed Li Mei, thanking her for meeting me.

Then there was my father. Just the thought of his reaction caused my face to turn red, and I lost focus as suddenly—

*BANG*

The wooden dummy exploded as my fist went right through it, blasting a hole in it.

"Tsk, damn it, I'm going to have to buy another one."

I muttered in frustration, then sighed as I picked up the large chunks of the wooden dummy and yelled,

"Someone come clean this up!"

After carrying the broken pieces to a nearby storage room, I heard one of our maids arrive to clean the mess.

Once I threw the chunks inside, I closed the door and walked back into the house, where I took a towel from one of the maids and wiped myself down.

"Big Brother!"

I heard my little brother shout as he ran toward me, covered in ink.

"Help! I don't want to study anymore!"

He screamed as he hid behind me. Moments later, I heard my little sister call out,

"Xu Yun, come back here! Master Elias said that to be a disciple of God, one must be studious as well as disciplined!"

She entered the room soaked in ink too. Looking at Xu Yun's appearance, I could easily imagine what had happened.

"Now now, give him some slack, little sis. Master said all of God's children may be equal in His eyes, but we aren't all the same, so don't expect too much of little Xu if he really doesn't want to study."

I said as I patted little Xu's head, causing him to smile. He looked at his sister and stuck his tongue out, mocking her.

"Blegh!"

*Tsk*

She tutted in annoyance, taking a towel handed to her by a maid and wiping the ink from herself, while I did the same for little Xu.

"Anyways, brother, how has your training been?"

Little Yun asked while still wiping away ink. Hearing her ask about my progress, I smiled with pride.

"Thanks to God's gift, I've raised my cultivation level to the 6th stage of Qi Refinement."

"Wow! Congrats, big bro! Does that mean you can beat anyone now?"

Little Xu asked, stars sparkling in his eyes. I smiled and said,

"Well, I don't know if I can beat everyone, but I'm sure I could pass the Sky Blue Sect's exam in three days."

I said with absolute confidence, making him more excited. But we were then interrupted by a maid who arrived bearing news.

"Young master, Patriarch Yun is requesting your presence in the main hall," she said while bowing.

I nodded, then asked Yun Yun to take Xu Yun to play for now and give him a break from studying. I headed toward the main hall, wondering what Father needed from me.

When I arrived, I saw Father seated at the head of the hall, his face bearing a serious expression.

Standing before him, I cupped my hands in respect and half-kneeled to greet him.

"Son greets the patriarch."

"Hm, good. Your health has improved since the last time I saw you," he said, nodding at my improved condition.

"Yes, Father. Thanks to God's gifts and intervention, I have been given a path to follow—as well as a body to help me accomplish it."

I said, praising the Lord for His gift, since everything up to now has been the result of God's help. I am grateful for it.

Father nodded, rubbing his chin. Then he asked,

"How has your cultivation progressed?"

"Father, I've recently reached the 6th stage of Qi Refinement, and with the three days remaining before the sect exam, I'm confident I'll reach the 7th stage."

"Good, good."

He nodded, pleased with my rapid improvement—but then he sighed, looking worried.

Seeing this, I asked,

"What's the matter, Father?"

"Hm… I'm worried."

He said, but didn't elaborate. Just as I was about to ask again, he suddenly raised his hand to dismiss me.

"It doesn't concern you. Go. A guest will be arriving later—don't disturb us."

I simply nodded. Although curious about what was troubling him, I couldn't disrespect my father, so I left and began preparing to meet Li Mei at her home.

I didn't notice the serious expression my father wore as my back was turned.
