Aurora
It had been over a month, and I had yet to have any deep conversation with Darius. It felt like we were worlds apart, yet our rooms were just a few inches away from each other. I grew tired of connecting with him. But it all was to no avail. I resigned myself to wait till he was ready for me. Alpha Darius was widely known not to open up to people easily, so I will bide my time and wait till the perfect moment when he can no longer ignore me.
"He's my second mate, I know he will come to me," I muttered to myself.
I sat down deep in my thoughts till I was tapped on the shoulders. "Are you alright, Aurora?" I turned around to view the tall man in his early twenties standing behind me. He wore a waistcoat, which gave me a dignified look. I squinted my eyes and saw it was Cameron. Darius's Beta.
"Sniff…I'm fine, Ser." I replied calmly. I was oblivious to how much time had passed for the day. As I sat in the corridors of the palace. Cameron sat down beside me.
"You don't have to be depressed. I know my Alpha Darius can be a bit hard to read, but I assure you he will come around soon enough. Meanwhile, you can use this time to get to know our norms and customs of the pack. It will help you adapt quickly and who knows…." Cameron winked mischievously at me. I huffed at his reaction because I knew exactly what he was referring to. Me fully accepted by the pack will gain the admiration and respect from all, including Darius.
I took his advice to heart and strolled around the kingdom. I quietly snuck out when the palace guards weren't looking to get a more realistic understanding of the pack. The remaining pack of wolves will treat me differently if I roam around with the palace warriors beside me.
"If I'm to learn more about their culture, I have to interact with others personally." I thought to myself.
I walked around for several hours around the town. However, as I moved around, I kept having this gut feeling like I was being watched like prey. It sent shivers all over my body. But, anytime I turned around to meet the direction of the gaze, I saw no one. I tightened the grip of the scarf wrapped around my shoulders as I continued my tour around the town.
It wasn't long before I found myself in an isolated alley. I must have taken a turn too many and was too embarrassed to ask for directions.
"How am I supposed to get back to the palace?" I asked myself. I finally decided to ask for directions back to the palace, but there was no one in sight. My breath was caught in my throat as night was fast approaching. A wave of panic washed over me.
"Which way should I choose?" I pondered to myself. I randomly chose a path to move forward, when suddenly some burly men merged around me.
"Hey little girl, what are you doing so far away from the palace? You have made our job much easier." One of them sneered at me. They looked at me lewdly, which made me so uncomfortable. I tried to summon up the courage and address them.
"I..dunno what you're talking about. But I think you have the wrong person." I snapped back, trying to brush off any form of physical touch from any of the men.
"Aren't you Aurora from the Moonfall pack. The omega girl is supposed to be a breeder?" One of the men asked with a sinister smile on his face. They slowly advanced nearer to me, closing all possible exits. I wiped the sweat beaded on my forehead as I kept turning around, making sure none of them sneaked up to me in surprise.
"I've done nothing wrong to you men, so please let me go." I pleaded, yet it fell on deaf ears. The eyes widened as they approached me.
"We were sent to silence you, but first…" One of the burly men behind the unzip his trousers. I knew if I didn't make a move right now, I might not survive the night.
Instinctively. I scratched the man closest to me and sprinted off the moment I saw an opening.
"Aah!" the burly man I scratched screamed. He signaled the rest of his men to chase me as they turned to their wolf form.
"I always enjoy the stubborn ones." He said as he was the last to transform into his wolf. I tried to run as fast as I could, but they eventually caught up to me and pinned me down. With each man holding my hands and feet spread wide open.
The wolf with a scratch stood above me, salivating while looking at me head to toe. Feeling disgusted, I turned my face away in despair. Suddenly, I heard a large gust of wind smack across his face. Within seconds, the rest were all knocked out with a single blow.
I slowly opened my eyes and saw a huge black wolf with crimson eyes tear out the limbs of the burly men with its claws, not sparing even the ones who tried to escape. After he subdued all of them, he let out a loud howl sound which could be heard far and wide. This specimen of wolf was one I had never seen before. His entire frame was solid and exquisite.
When he was done, he turned to glance at me. At first, I cringed in terror. But after gazing at him closely, even in his wolf form, there was only one person who could transform like this. My second mate is Alpha Darius.
