Chapter 17 - The Airport Assassination

As soon as Liang Zhengwu walked out of the terminal, two airport porters pushing luggage carts rushed toward him.

The taller one reached him first. "Sir, need help with your luggage? Just twenty yuan."

The shorter one followed closely behind. "Sir, I'll do it for ten." His price was half.

"What the hell is this?" the tall one snapped. "There are rules, you know! You can't just steal someone else's business like that!"

"Screw your rules," the short one shot back. "This is my price—what are you gonna do about it?"

"Stop it, both of you. No need to argue. I don't need your help, thank you," Liang Zhengwu said calmly.

That only made the tall one angrier. He pointed at the short one and shouted, "This is all your fault! You ruined my deal—I'll beat you to death!"

Without warning, the tall guy lunged, throwing a punch.

"What does this have to do with me? The man just said he didn't want help! You wanna fight? Fine!" The short guy suddenly pulled out a shiny knife.

Seeing the blade, the tall guy immediately backed up and yelled, "You think you're the only one with a knife?" He pulled out a knife of his own.

A crowd quickly gathered, watching the brawl unfold.

"Alright, guys, calm down. Put the knives away!" Liang Zhengwu tried to intervene.

"Stay out of it! I'm killing him today!" the tall one shouted, stabbing forward.

"I'll kill you first!" the short one yelled, thrusting his blade too.

But to everyone's shock, both knives suddenly changed direction—plunging into Liang Zhengwu's stomach. Blood gushed out instantly.

Gasps filled the air. Everyone was stunned. What just happened?

Liang Zhengwu stared at the two men, muttering weakly, "You..."

The two attackers exchanged a wicked grin before yanking their knives back out, blood spraying in arcs.

Liang Zhengwu turned pale, clutching his stomach as he collapsed to the ground.

"Out of the way!" the two shouted, waving their bloodied knives at the onlookers.

The horrified crowd screamed and scattered, parting to let them through.

Just as the two men tried to flee, a tall figure stepped into their path.

"Move!" the tall attacker snarled, stabbing toward the figure.

But his movement was too slow. Without even flinching, the man caught both attackers by the hair and slammed their heads together with a bang.

It was like thunder. The two instantly went limp and collapsed to the ground, unconscious.

"Holy crap, that was badass!" someone in the crowd exclaimed, and applause broke out.

The man was none other than Wang Yu.

He rushed to Liang Zhengwu, shouting, "Everyone move! He needs to get to a hospital—now!"

"Yes, yes—make way for the hero!" people called out, quickly clearing a path.

Wang Yu picked up Liang Zhengwu and called out, "My car's outside. Can someone help me move these two attackers? I'll take them to the police."

"I'll help!" someone responded, and a few people quickly helped drag the two unconscious men toward the parking lot.

Wang Yu shoved Liang Zhengwu into the front passenger seat, threw the two attackers in the back, thanked the bystanders, and sped away.

After driving some distance from the airport, Wang Yu glanced at Liang Zhengwu, who was lying still in the passenger seat.

"Hey, old man—cut the act."

As soon as he said that, something strange happened. The "corpse" moved.

Hack, hack. Liang Zhengwu coughed and sat up, cursing, "Those bastards really tried to kill me in broad daylight. Good thing I came prepared!"

As he spoke, he removed his coat, revealing a belt filled with water pouches strapped to his waist. The pouches were filled with red liquid that looked like blood.

"In this heat, wearing something so thick—must've been torture," Wang Yu said, shaking his head.

Liang Zhengwu knew Wang Yu was mocking him and gave a wry smile. "You think I wanted to? It's called being cautious. I just didn't expect they'd actually try to kill me."

His expression turned cold, and his eyes flashed with a sharp glint. "They've gone too far."

"They have," Wang Yu agreed. "But killing you, this old fox, isn't so easy. Foxes have nine lives, but you—probably ten."

He laughed. "By the way, what did you use this time? That fake blood looked super real."

"Pig's blood—not paint." Liang Zhengwu unstrapped the pouch and tossed it to the floor.

"You really went all out. Looks like the situation in Yunzhou is even worse than we thought." Wang Yu's expression turned serious.

Liang Zhengwu nodded grimly. "If they're bold enough to attack me openly, it means we're dealing with dangerous people."

"We've got a tough fight ahead," he continued. "You better be careful too."

"Worry about yourself," Wang Yu replied calmly. "By the way, did you tell anyone else you were coming to Yunzhou?"

"No. Only you—and I only told you half an hour before landing," Liang Zhengwu said.

Wang Yu frowned. "Then how did those two bastards know and catch you the moment you got off the plane?"

Liang Zhengwu sighed, leaning back in his seat with a grave expression. "Just as I suspected. There's a mole inside our team."

He turned to Wang Yu with a nod. "Good thing you came to pick me up. Otherwise, catching those two wouldn't have been this easy. Now we can make them talk."

Wang Yu remained expressionless—compliments like that meant nothing to him anymore.

He was about to speak when his phone rang.

With one hand on the wheel, he checked the screen. It was Liu Yunyun.

"Hey, don't answer while driving!" Liang Zhengwu warned.

Wang Yu ignored him and answered the call on speaker.

"Yunyun, what's up?"

But all he heard was Liu Yunyun's sobbing voice, filled with despair and helplessness.

Confused, Wang Yu asked, "What's wrong?"

"Wang Yu, where are you? sob Come to the hospital—hurry!" Liu Yunyun's voice trembled.

"What happened? Are you in the hospital? Don't cry—tell me what's going on!"

"It's not me... it's your parents. You have to come quick—they might not make it!" she cried.

"What?!" Wang Yu was stunned. "My parents? But they were fine this morning when I left!"

"Just come! You'll see for yourself! Hurry—First People's Hospital!" Liu Yunyun sobbed.

"Alright, I'm on my way!" Wang Yu yanked the steering wheel and stepped hard on the gas, the car roaring toward the hospital.
