"Did something happen at home? Then drive straight to the hospital!" Liang Zhengwu was even more anxious than Wang Yu, which warmed Wang Yu's heart.
Wang Yu now had a better understanding of the situation in Yunzhou. He knew the situation was complicated, and the enemy was cunning and ruthless. As he drove, he spoke seriously, "I'll drop you at the hospital entrance. You take these two people straight to the police station."
Liang Zhengwu thought for a moment, then nodded. "Alright. If anything happens, call me immediately."
"Got it." Wang Yu stepped on the gas, and the car roared forward, startling nearby vehicles as it sped through the streets.
Fortunately, being a local, Wang Yu knew the hospital's location well and didn't take any detours. After a wild drive, they reached the hospital entrance.
Before the car fully stopped, he kicked the door open and bolted out, rushing into the hospital at an almost unbelievable speed, drawing surprised glances from passersby.
Outside the emergency room, Liu Yunyun waited anxiously—worried both for the person being rescued inside and for Wang Yu's arrival.
It was supposed to be a relaxing Saturday off work. She had planned to visit Wang Yu's family. But when she arrived at their new home, she witnessed a scene she would never forget. It was horrifying—so horrifying it left her momentarily frozen in shock. Once she recovered, she immediately called an ambulance. Now both elders were being resuscitated in the emergency room.
"Yunyun, what happened?" Wang Yu finally arrived, rushing toward her.
"Wang Yu!" Liu Yunyun burst into tears the moment she saw him.
Wang Yu quickly stepped forward and grabbed her shoulders. "What happened?"
Sobbing uncontrollably, Liu Yunyun described the terrifying scene she had witnessed. "Your new home was trashed. Your parents were beaten so badly... they're barely hanging on!"
Wang Yu clenched his fists. His eyes burned with hatred, and the cold aura he emitted seemed to chill the air around him.
Who could be so cruel to his parents?
He didn't have to guess—this had to be He Wei's doing. The only person he had crossed paths with since returning was He Wei.
He had underestimated He Wei. In such a short time, the thugs had already found his new address and exacted brutal revenge.
And they weren't the only ones capable of revenge.
"Yunyun, stay here. I'll be right back." With a murderous aura surrounding him, Wang Yu turned to leave.
But Liu Yunyun grabbed him and cried, "I know you want to get revenge, but you have to stay. What if your parents don't make it? What if they want to see you one last time?" She couldn't finish the sentence. She didn't want to believe that outcome.
Wang Yu stopped in his tracks. He knew she was right. He forced down his fury and stayed at the emergency room door with her.
Ten minutes later, the doors swung open. Wang Yu and Liu Yunyun jumped to their feet, nervously eyeing the gurney being pushed out, afraid of the worst.
It was his father. His mother was still inside.
"Dad!" Wang Yu rushed forward.
A doctor stopped him. "Are you a family member?"
"I'm his son. This is my father. Doctor, is he okay?" Wang Yu asked anxiously. He hadn't felt this nervous in years.
"He's stable now, thanks to the efforts of Dr. Lin," the doctor replied.
Wang Yu breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank you, Doctor."
"No need to thank me—thank Dr. Lin. If it weren't for her, your father might not have made it," the doctor said. Then his expression turned serious. "But the other elder is in much worse condition. Her brain suffered severe trauma... I'm afraid—"
Wang Yu's heart pounded. He pleaded desperately, "Doctor, please save her. I'm begging you."
This was the first time in his life that this strong man had ever begged anyone.
"Don't worry. Dr. Lin is still working on her. She's a top surgical specialist from the military hospital. If anyone can save her, it's her. But... you should still be mentally prepared. The injuries are very serious," the doctor said carefully, trying to manage their expectations.
"I understand. Thank you." Wang Yu followed the doctors as they wheeled his father into a private room.
Once they were alone, Wang Qiang gripped Wang Yu's hand tightly. Even though his face and eyes were wrapped in bandages, tears still streamed down.
"Son..." His voice was hoarse.
"Dad, I'm here. I'm right here." Wang Yu choked back his sorrow and asked with trembling voice, "Dad, tell me—who did this?"
He had a strong suspicion, but he needed confirmation.
"He Wei," Wang Qiang forced out.
Just as he'd thought.
"Brother Biao," Wang Qiang added weakly.
"Who's Brother Biao?" Wang Yu asked urgently.
Wang Qiang couldn't say more. He simply shook his head lightly.
"Family members, the patient needs rest. He shouldn't talk too much," a doctor came in and reminded them.
"The doctor is right. Let Uncle rest," Liu Yunyun added softly.
"Okay." Wang Yu nodded. "Dad, rest well. Don't worry—I'll make them pay. I swear."
Suddenly, another doctor rushed in. "Who is the patient's family member?"
"I am!" Wang Yu quickly responded.
"What's your relationship to the patient?" the doctor asked.
"I'm their son. Doctor, what's wrong?" Wang Yu felt a wave of dread.
"Your mother's condition is very serious. This is a critical condition notice. Please sign it," the doctor said, handing him the document.
Wang Yu's heart dropped. He took the form and read it three times. With each read, his expression grew darker.
"Doctor, is there really no hope?" Liu Yunyun sobbed. "Please... she's suffered enough already. Please save her!"
"Don't worry. We'll do our best," the doctor reassured. Then he turned to Wang Yu. "Sir, any other questions? If not, please sign here."
"Alright. I'll sign." Wang Yu picked up the pen and wrote down the heaviest two words of his life: Wang Yu.
