Jin-woo hated two things almost as much as laundry day: losing money and awkward confrontations.
So when he woke up one morning and realized his wallet was missing, he immediately launched into full detective mode.
He tore apart his room, tossing clothes, books, and even Yuna's textbook (accidentally) onto the floor.
"Noona, have you seen my wallet?" he asked, wide-eyed and frantic.
Yuna blinked up from her laptop. "Nope. But you might want to check your pockets."
Jin-woo patted his jeans and shirt—no wallet.
"Not there," he muttered, pacing.
As the panic set in, Jin-woo's mind raced.
Was it stolen? Lost? Stolen by a ghost?
He imagined a shadowy figure sneaking into their room and making off with his cash and student ID.
"Noona, we have to investigate," he declared.
Yuna sighed but nodded.
"Fine. Detective Jin-woo and Assistant Noona on the case."
They started by questioning the usual suspects: their dorm neighbors.
First stop: Room 401.
Knocking with dramatic flair, Jin-woo called out, "We need your cooperation in a matter of utmost urgency."
The door opened to reveal a sleepy-looking guy holding a toothbrush.
"Uh… what's going on?"
"Wallet theft," Jin-woo replied.
"Dude, I don't have your wallet."
Yuna added, "Can you check your room, please? We're running out of time."
The guy shrugged and disappeared inside.
Next, Room 403.
They met a cheerful girl named Minji who immediately offered them snacks.
"Sorry, no wallet here," she said.
Jin-woo felt his hope slipping.
Back in their room, Jin-woo sat on the floor, head in hands.
"This is a disaster."
Yuna crouched beside him. "Maybe you left it somewhere outside?"
He paused.
"Wait. The cafeteria."
They rushed to the cafeteria and scanned the tables.
"Excuse me," Jin-woo said to a staff member. "Has anyone turned in a black wallet?"
The staff shook her head.
Nearby, a group of students chatted, but no one had seen a wallet.
Jin-woo's stomach sank.
Then, a sudden shout.
"Hey! Is this yours?"
A girl approached, holding a black wallet.
Jin-woo's face lit up.
"That's mine!"
He grabbed it eagerly and opened it.
"Phew, everything's here… except—"
His eyes widened.
"The hundred-thousand won bill is gone!"
Yuna raised an eyebrow. "Looks like the thief was selective."
Jin-woo scowled. "Who steals money but leaves the ID and credit cards?"
"Maybe they just wanted cash?"
"Or a snack."
The mystery deepened.
They decided to check the security cameras near the cafeteria.
With some difficulty—and the help of an overly enthusiastic janitor—they accessed the footage.
There, clear as day, was Jin-woo, dropping his wallet.
Then, a shadowy figure approached, glanced around nervously, and snatched the cash.
Jin-woo froze the video.
"Wait a minute…"
The thief's hoodie bore a familiar logo.
"It's the mascot of the university's Baking Club," Yuna said.
"Baking Club?"
Jin-woo scratched his head.
"Why would a baker steal cash?"
Determined, they visited the Baking Club room.
Inside, cupcakes and breads were displayed like treasures.
A girl with flour on her cheeks smiled warmly.
"Hi! You're looking for the wallet thief?"
Jin-woo nodded.
She giggled. "We actually caught someone stealing our secret cookie recipe."
Jin-woo's eyes narrowed.
"Cookie recipe theft? That sounds way more serious than missing cash."
Suddenly, a loud crash echoed.
They turned to see a guy in a hoodie—the same one from the video—tripping over a rolling cart.
He scrambled up and bolted.
"Hey! Stop!" Jin-woo yelled.
Yuna sighed.
"Looks like we're chasing a thief now."
The chase through campus was clumsy and chaotic.
Jin-woo dodged students, crashed into a bike rack, and tripped over a garden gnome.
Yuna followed, laughing despite herself.
Finally, the thief reached a dead end near the library.
With nowhere left to run, he turned.
Jin-woo caught his breath.
"Why steal my money?"
The thief shrugged. "I needed it to pay back a bet."
"About what?"
"Who can bake the best cookie. Lost to the Baking Club president."
Jin-woo blinked.
"So, you steal money to… repay a baking bet?"
The thief nodded.
"Can't argue with that logic."
Back at the dorm, Jin-woo held up the recovered wallet.
"Case closed."
Yuna smirked. "You might not be the best detective, but you sure have the best stories."
Jin-woo grinned.
"And as your official roommate, I promise to keep life interesting."
That night, Jin-woo lay in bed, the wallet safely on his desk.
"Noona?"
"Mmm?"
"Next time I lose something, can you help me find it before I turn into Sherlock?"
Yuna smiled.
"Deal. But you have to do your own laundry."
Jin-woo groaned but nodded.
"Fair enough."
