A contemptuous yet smug smile appeared on Louise's face. How dare this country bumpkin who just arrived from the village ask her for lessons?!
Of course, she thought that it would be nice to use this as an excuse to showcase her dancing skills in front of everyone and bask in the limelight. If she shone, her daughter Stefanie could share the glory!
And so, she took off her coat and stood up in a tight-fitting gown.
However, a strange itch suddenly attacked her as soon as she stood
up.
It felt like countless bugs were biting and gnawing at her neck, spreading to her back and even her whole body.
"It's so itchy!" she screamed, frantically scratching herself.
Only by scratching incessantly could she slightly alleviate the itch.
The guests around, who were previously engaged in conversation and drinking, gradually turned their attention to her. However, that didn't stop her.
She even rushed to a pillar and rubbed her body against the white jade pillar.
There was an uproar all around.
Mollie deliberately covered her mouth and choked in surprise, "Is this social dancing? I-I think I'II give up..."People began to talk about it.
Some said Louise deliberately avoided teaching, and others said that her promiscuous spirit had been unleashed.
Louise had once been a D-list celebrity who mingled in the entertainment industry's debauched circles before
marrying Theo. It wasn't surprising that she could move so flirtatiously
in front of everyone.
"You are right, Mollie. Let's not learn this."
Lawrence couldn't bear to watch Louise's behaviour. He anxiously pulled Mollie to the side, advising her to stay away from these kinds of bad influences. At the same time, Theo had rushed over.
Seeing Louise's slim-fitting gown riding up to her thighs, half of her delicate shoulders exposed, and her hair dishevelled, he wanted nothing more than to dig a hole and bury this crazy woman.
How could she be so undignified, making herself look cheap and ridiculous?!
"Hurry and get back inside!" he roared in anger, startling the crowd into a hushed silence. Louise's expression only grew more uncomfortable and aggrieved at that.
It was Everly who helped Louise back inside. Mollie looked at Louise's twisting body and silently thanked Kris for the itchy powder in the Medical Space. It was indeed effective in tormenting people.
She wouldn't mess with others if they didn't do anything to her.
Nobody should think they could manipulate and bully her like before.
Suddenly, a sexy male voice rang out above her. "Little darling, what are you thinking about?" "Mr. Hudson is here." The crowd unconsciously made way for him.
Dressed in an exquisite suit, Jonathon exuded an air of elegance and pride as he slowly entered the room. His towering figure, a head taller than the average person, made him an instant centre of attention.
Yet, the envious and admiring gazes around him couldn't hold him captive. With a fleeting glance around the banquet hall, he immediately spotted the elusive figure that tugged at his
heartstrings and walked straight toward it. "I'm thinking about you," Mollie playfully remarked when her eyes met his.
Jonathon's heart skipped a beat, and then he laughed at himself.
Had he not discovered Corey had purchased two international flight tickets before his own arrival, he might have actually believed that his sweetheart was anticipating his arrival.
"Is that so? I thought you were only pondering eloping with Corey."
Jonathon quipped, his tone dripping with sarcasm and an inexplicable air of authority.
If Corey and Mollie dared to elope, Jonathon truly considered breaking Corey's legs and then permanently confining Mollie to his side.
Mollie sensed Jonathon's mood and suddenly burst into laughter.
How could his possessiveness be so endearing?
"Mr. Hudson, you've misunderstood me. Corey was invited by Stefanie."
Jonathon's icy demeanour softened slightly.
The surrounding guests stirred with excitement, holding their wine glasses, smilingly making their way toward Jonathon as they were eager to get closer to the elusive tycoon they rarely encountered.
Even Lawrence recognised
Jonathon's exceptional bearing and asked Mollie about his identity.
Unexpectedly, Stefanie
interjected, "Grandpa, this is the esteemed Mr. Jonathon Hudson from Norbury. We've known each other for a long time."
She seemed to be insinuating that Jonathon had come due to her apparent influence.
The onlookers were taken aback; they hadn't anticipated that the great Jonathon would be here because of a young lady. Soon, they looked at Stefanie with newfound respect.
Jonathon's response, however, was frosty as he glanced at Stefanie and asked, "Are we well-acquainted?"
Stefanie's expression immediately soured; she hadn't expected Jonathon to lack gentlemanly decorum and ended up leaving her all embarrassed.
Mollie, on the other hand, smiled contentedly.
As expected of the man she had set her sights on.
The music in the hall shifted to a gentle melody. After Jonathon signalled a nearby waiter, he led Mollie towards Lawrence, positioning themselves directly in front of him.
"Mollie mentioned to me that it is your 80th birthday today. Let me present a small gift to wish you good health and long life," Jonathon announced.
With that, he took an intricately carved wooden box from the waiter and presented it to Lawrence.
Inside it were the agate and jade from the Northern Dreams
Auction.
A collective gasp swept through the audience.
This exquisitely crafted, pure and precious jade had fetched a sky-high price of millions of dollars at the auction, yet here it was now in Lawrence's hands.
"I can't possibly accept such a precious gift. You're too kind, young man," Lawrence humbly praised. His gaze, however, had shifted towards his granddaughter.
The guests shifted their attention from the gemstone to the young girl Jonathon held by his side.
Evidently, the real talent was this girl who had only recently returned to her roots after being lost for so
many years!
Those who were discerning exchanged meaningful glances with Mollie, hinting at the possibility of forming new connections.
Something stirred within Mollie when she noticed the collective gaze fixated on her.
This was the right time.
With a nod toward her
grandfather, she gracefully moved towards the podium.
Stefanie's heart skipped a beat when she saw how obedient that dim-witted girl was. Mollie was about to expose Jonathon's
"misdeeds!"
Hmph, once she was of no further use, Stefanie would arrange for her to be in Corey's room... The betrayal and elopement would follow naturally. At that point, any possibility between her and Jonathon will be shattered!
