The dagger immediately goes into his chest as he grips what's left of his sword. The pain going all throughout his body as he stared at the eyes of the being.
A sensation like this is not something I ever pictured I'd feel before. The feeling of being stabbed by a sharp blade such as a dagger is the worst feeling I could've imagined.
I couldn't feel the pain in my arm back there because of the pure adrenaline rush that I had going on, but this was different.
"I can't say that I'm surprised by this. Artemis was it? You aren't what I expected." The Beings voice echoes around him.
Clatter. Thud. The hilt falls onto the floor, soon after Artemis does as well. Blood slowly forming around him as The being disappears into the distance.
I know I shouldn't be scared of death because of the power I chose but this still doesn't feel great. I've still got to endure every step of the process as my body shuts down.
"Artemis!" Amelia calls out in the distance.
He can hear the footsteps of his group approaching him swiftly, intent on making sure he doesn't die. They didn't want to watch their new friend die, her protector's death.
She quickly kneeled down besides him to try to stop any further bleeding but the wound was fatal. The being knew to stab directly into his heart.
I didn't think about it right away but my heartbeat was no longer there. That bastard really did hit me with a fatal stab wound, how could I have expected this.
Everything was getting darker around me once again as I slowly looked up towards Amelia. Her crimson red eyes slowly leaving my sight as I drifted back towards the abyss once again.
The world around him disappeared as the abyss swallowed him whole once again, except it was different this time. Something was holding onto him. "Your first death as Artemis indescribable. (His last name is hidden for a reason.) I can't say I didn't expect it." A Woman's voice echoes all around him.
Could it be the goddess who granted me this power and magic? It could be no one other than her so what happens now?
"The world around you will revert back to before the fight happened. You know what happens so it's up to you to figure out how to deal with it. Good luck. Don't try to explain any of this to anyone either." She explains before everything starts to disappear.
A small glimmer of light peaked through the darkness, the only way to return back to the living. Yet again something held onto his arms and legs, refusing to let go of him whatsoever.
I don't know what the hell is going on right now so what do I do to get myself out of this situation. I can't even move to see what is holding onto me in the first place.
What kind of cruel joke is this? I'm supposed to be going back to the land of the living with the knowledge of everything that just happened.
A softer voice begins to speak. "Use me. Use me." It repeats over and over again.
The soft voice began to surround him, echoing off of walls that didn't exist but yet they felt as if they did. "I don't even know what you are!" Artemis shouts.
Just barely he can make out the face of a girl staring directly at him, her dark blue eyes were all he could really see. Maybe her lips and nose but nothing else. "You want to use shadows against enemies, magic or not. That's what I want to help you with." She says with a calm tone in her voice.
I don't understand what's happening here. First the goddess and now this strange girl who is telling me to use her, what am I supposed to do!! It was supposed to be magic, at least that's what I told her.
"Yori it's okay. I just want to protect you so please use me." She pleas with a genuine tone behind her voice.
I've seen this too many times in things I've read about in the past. Giving in to this will only cause me to lose control over myself in the future. It will only cause me to lose who I really am as a person...
"I want the help but I don't know the side effects..." Yori responds with tears going down his face.
I don't understand why I'm crying now, what is causing this?
She slowly lets go of him before speaking once more. "I'll give you a bit of my help anyway. Going forward we will have to talk if you want to use anything further. I'm sorry for what you'll feel." She says before letting go completely.
Immediately Artemis feels pain go all throughout his body as it starts to feel like he's suffocating. Trying to let out screams that can't even be heard in a place such as the abyss.
He slowly starts to lose consciousness as the abyss begins to fade away, slowly bringing my him back to reality. The only thing he remembers before passing out is that he experienced the most excruciating pain he ever felt.
"Gahhhh!!!! Ahhh!!" Artemis shouts as he opens his eyes.
The door opens up and Amelia runs over to his side. "Artemis what's wrong!?!" She asks with a worried expression on her face.
He had jolted up in bed, grabbing hold of his chest. Slowly his eyes met with Amelia, He was back on the ship once again.
There's no rumbling yet so we haven't been attacked and I just woke up screaming? I guess I was screaming back in the abyss so it makes a lot of sense on why I would be now.
I probably scared the hell out of Amelia and most of the other people on the ship if they heard me. That pain was something else entirely...
