Chapter 11 - Matt Lance

NO POV

Dennis looked around and noticed they were done taking the bodies away. He let out a deep breath and averted his gaze back to the pile of bodies covered in white clothes.

He counted the numbers and drew his brows when he noticed they were nineteen instead of the twenty they had counted when they did a head count during the protest.

He looked around and sighted a scarf further away. "Guys, how many were they when we arrived?" He asked, not taking his eyes off the scarf.

"Twenty," May answered, and walked closer to him. "Is there something wrong?"

"They are nineteen here. I guess one escaped," he answered and pointed at the scarf. "Mayby that belong to one of them."

"I will go get it. We were ordered not to leave anything behind that might cause a riot," she answered and walked to go get the scarf. When she got closer, she saw two dead people who they haven't covered.

Seeing the girl, she drew her brows wondering if she had seen her before. "You said they were nineteen over there, right?" She asked again. He nodded and went closer. Seeing the two laying so close to each other, he let out a deep sigh and rubbed his neck.

"Was there a mistake? They would be twenty one all together," he pointed out. He looked closer and noticed the change in her skin. "Is it just me, or is her skin getting dried up unlike the others?"

May looked closer and noticed it too. She gasped and yelled out, "Captain, you need to come see this!"

Hero hurried to where they were and they quickly filled him in on what was going on. He noticed the girl's skin changing and narrowed his brows. "This wasn't caused by the arrows."

"Could it be she has been dead for so long?" Carson asked, joining them.

"Poor girl," Georgia muttered, joining them too.

"I don't think so," Hero answered, examining her. "It seems she was just killed but her appearance says differently. This is confusing." He let out a deep breath and stood straight. "We will take her back to the headquarters. They will figure something out. For now, let's get over with everything and head back."

Reggie stood some distance away, watching with a dead, cold face, without an emotion. He stared for a few minutes before he gently walked away, heading back to the van.

He had one thing in mind: 'To avenge the death of the girl and her mother' just as he had promised. He will look for the one who had released the arrow and end it.

REGGIE POV

The drive back to the headquarter was a long and quiet one, with everybody having their thoughts, probably about the wasted lives at Milky line region. The Mayor would surely get a reward for handling the situation, which he doesn't deserve.

We got back to the headquarters and immediately we pulled over, Hero looked at us over his shoulder and said, "Today have being a long day. It's time to go get some rest."

"Rest? We haven't find out what happened to her," May pointed out, displeased at his order.

"I will handle it. For now, you all should go to your dorms," he ordered again.

"We want to know what happened to her. Can you atleast let us?" She argued, not ready to give in to his command.

Hero rubbed his neck, and bit his lower lips, trying hard to calm down. He exhaled deeply and looked at her again. "I understand your concern, May. Don't worry, I will let you know the outcome when it's done. Just go back to your dorms and this is an order."

"But-" He cut her off, "Do you think they will let us in on anything if we all go inside the commander's office?" He asked, finally getting pissed off. "Like I said, I will let you know when an information is out."

May said nothing again. She stepped out of the van and banged the door, leaving us with the knowledge of how angry she was.

We all stepped down too and headed to our dorms quietly. Immediately I walked in, I shut the door and walked to the bed. "Maki, we have a hunt tonight," I said and he appeared before me.

"Are you really going to avenge her death?" He asked but I said nothing. I walked to my wardrobe and opened it instead, searching for a box.

"Master, you shouldn't be soft hearted. It's okay you told her you will avenge her death, but that doesn't mean you will really avenge her death. That is not the way of the ghouls," he said, trying to lecture me.

I pulled out the old box when I found it and shut the wardrobe. "Maki, I wouldn't just go there to avenge her death, I will also be able to eat his soul. According to the information I have of the one who has the blazing arrow ability, he is at the level of a Delta, the perfect energy I need right now.," I answered and opened the box.

"You are right, master. You are going to kill two birds with a stone."

I pulled out a small knife and put it in my pocket before I stood up and faced him. "His name is Matt Lance, I want him in hell's palace now!"

The world took a turn and in the next minute, I was in hell's palace. I looked forward and saw Matt on his knees, wearing his night robe and confusion written all over his face.

"Welcome to my world," I said and appeared before him. "Now, let's have a conversation before we go into business."

"Where am I?" He asked immediately I gave him the opportunity to speak. "Who are you?" He looked around. "Where is this place?"

"I am Reggie Scott," I introduced and drew closer. "And you are in hell's palace, here to get judged."

He gasped and fell back, frightened. "Am I dead? I can't be dead," he said, shivering in fright.

I smirked, seeing how scared he was. Some hours ago when he was raining down arrows, he had a look of satisfaction and was happy. Seeing his fear made me pleased. He should never be able to smile again and I will make sure of it.

"You are not dead. Infact, I am going to give you an enormous power. The power you never obtained. You will be so powerful and you can do whatever you wish with it," I said with a lopsided smile plastered on my lips.

His eyes widened but he said nothing.

"I know you have always wanted to be the captain of your team, but you weren't given the chance because Morgan's father has the money and connection to get him where ever he wish," I said, using the information I got about him. He shifted back, surprised I knew that about him.

Not minding his shock, I went on to say, "Just imagine you defeating Morgan and becoming the captain instead. Wouldn't that be blissful?" I asked and stood up. "But you won't be able to defeat him until I give you the power."

"I… I want the power," he said without hesitation. "Please, make me powerful."

How greedy.

"I will make you powerful, but there is something you have to do to gain this power." He looked at me, definitely not expecting a payment. He swallowed hard and nodded for me to go on.

"You will fight and kill me."
