Chapter 6 - Saving the saintess (1)

"Your holiness…"

"How many times have I told you not to address me as such? We're supposed to be hiding our identities right now. If you keep addressing me as such, it won't take long before we're exposed."

"Sorry…Miss Amy."

Though they changed the way that they addressed her, it was clear that they weren't used to it.

In fact, though they were dressed like ordinary people, it was clear that there was something special about them.

This was a kind of bearing that just couldn't be what a normal person would have.

As such, it was quite clear that they weren't normal people.

Still, they were acting this way because they were traveling in secret.

All because the saintess had snuck out on the way to the hero ceremony.

All because she wanted to travel as a normal person instead of in the same manner as she was used to.

That caused quite a bit of trouble for these people who were here to guard her.

Seeing the looks on their faces, Saintess Amy said with a wide smile, "It's fine. Just be more careful next time. Also, there's no need to act this way, it's not as if we're heading to the land of the demons. This is a forest in the middle of the kingdom, how dangerous could it be?"

The guards had bitter smiles on their faces, but they didn't seem to disagree with her.

That was one of the main reasons why they had agreed to this request of hers in the first place.

But it could be said that the saintess really had quite the crow's mouth.

After she said this, there was rustling that came from the bushes.

As soon as they heard this, the expression on the faces of the guards immediately changed.

There was no hesitation as they pulled out the weapons that they had hidden and surrounded the carriage that the saintess was sitting in.

"Everyone, let me…"

Saintess Amy didn't get to say anything else as the door to the carriage was closed.

The guards that were outside just raised their weapons and said, "Your holiness, we'll protect you. Please just stay inside until it's safe."

In the end, Saintess Amy couldn't do anything as they headed towards where the sound came from.

From her window in the carriage, she could see a bit of what was happening and from her experience in this world, she naturally knew what to expect.

It was just that it was much worse than she expected.

The moment that the guards approached the bush, there were arrows that came flying out.

They weren't able to react in time and two of them were hit with the arrows in the shoulder.

The rest of them didn't even have the chance to get back in position as monsters charged out of the bushes. These monsters immediately swung their weapons down on them, so it was all that they could do to block these swords that came down at them.

With the situation that they were in, it really seemed like it was dire.

It really seemed like there was no way out for them.

Then came the next wave of arrows from the monsters that were behind.

"Damn, is this it?"

That was all that the guards could think as the arrow tips were getting larger and larger in front of them.

Only there was no contact in the end.

"Swish."

With the sound of a sword being swung, the arrows were knocked out of the air and landed around them instead of in their bodies.

The guards still weren't able to react when they saw the arrows falling around them, but there was no need for them to react as there was someone that charged past them.

This was the person that had swung the sword out to stop the arrows just now and his sword was still moving forward even though he had just swung to stop the arrows.

This time, it was the monsters that were caught off guard by this person's sudden appearance and couldn't react in time.

By the time that the monsters could do anything…

"Keek!"

Screams of pain came from the monsters in front as they were cut down by the sword.

It seemed that this person was very efficient as there was nothing that the monsters could even do when the sword cut right into them. It was as if they were being sliced apart as easily as fruit with how quick they fell.

In the end, there were only the goblin archers that were left.

These goblin archers hadn't been idle while their companions had been getting killed by this person.

They had already notched another wave of arrows that they had been planning to shoot at the humans in front of them.

But those arrows didn't reach them.

"Get down!" The person that had saved them suddenly shouted this which made the guards come back to their senses and duck down while covering their heads with their hands.

However, it wasn't that that stopped the arrows.

Rather, that person picked up the corpses of the goblins that he had cut down and threw them forward at the goblin archers. It was those corpses that had stopped most of those arrows in the end, but they didn't stop all of the arrows.

There was one that went right through the goblin corpses and hit that person right in the shoulder.

But that person didn't stop as he continued charging forward while gritting his teeth.

Even though it was clear that he was in pain, he didn't stop as he charged right at the goblin archers.

He even swung his sword with the shoulder that had been pierced by the arrow.

When the dust settled, that person was the only one that was standing there among the corpses of the goblins.

"Are you alright?" The guards asked.

However, that person said, "There's no time to waste, there might be more of them. We need to leave this place as soon as possible."
